The Lincoln Snowboarding team is having their year-end party this Thursday and are inviting anyone who may be interested in joining the team next year. The event is from 6-8 PM this Thursday, June 3 at Hot Shots Westside Billiards at 4900 SW Western Avenue (near Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and not far from 217) in Beaverton. The team will provide for the tables and some munchies and beverages. Please let the parent advisor, Mark Neuhausen in the contacts page, know if you can join us.

State Results

We had some bad breaks, literally, for the state championships.  Natasha was not able to race after breaking her clavicle earlier in the year, and Kiyoshi broke his arm on the Wednesday before competition started.  Taylor practiced and was there as an alternate, but all the girls showed up and she did not get to race.

Results are posted at www.oisa.org. Click the State tab.

Snowboard Cross (SBX) Results

What a beautiful and fun day.  Thanks to John Bauchrowitz for helping to organize everyone at the start of 11 girls and 23 boys heats.  And to Lisa West for again helping in the lodge and working as a course monitor in the top 1/3 of the course.

Congratulations to Moira McCarthy for her fourth place overall finish.  And to the boys.  It looked like we might have three boys in the finals, with Michael Honeywell leading his quarterfinal heat, and Kiyoshi, and Austin leading their semi-final heats, but it was not to be.  Kiyoshi, Austin, and Mickey Roy all bowed out in the semi-finals and finished in three spots in 5th-8th places. Also, showing the unpredictability of SBX, Austin beat the winner, Shaun, in the quarterfinals and was leading everyone in the semi-finals before hitting “bumps in the road.”

As well as our team did in the competition, my highlight was Mother Nature.  After the competition, I went up to Vista Ridge for a ski run and one could look into the snow filled valley with powdery drifts, and see Timberline Lodge far away, but looking close enough to touch. It was quite an experience to score a snowboard competition in long sleeves with no jacket, hat, or gloves, and be sweaty and get sunburned.
